Instructions to solve problems soon

Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda inspected the newly constructed and renovated reservoirs and anicuts under Uthuru Vasanthaya programme in Velanai Pradeshiya Sabha area recently and gave instructions to officials to solve problems that may come up.

The minister inspected the drains constructed by the Department of Irrigation for flow of rain water in the area of Denzil Kobbekaduwa monument in Kayts, Arali Point, and then proceeded to inspect the newly constructed reservoir near old Vairavar Kovil.

He instructed the officers to test the water for salinity content, after which he had a discussion with the officials as to what action was needed to be taken had there been a seepage of salt water into the reservoir.

The minister also inspected the dredged lake near Velanai town and many other small lakes recently renovated in the area later.

All the people who came to meet the minister from the area said it was the first time in their lives that they saw all tanks in the area filled with water and thanked the minister and the President for the efforts taken to fulfill their pledges. They also requested the minister to solve their drinking water problem as well as to supply them electricity as early as possible. The minister in response said that too would be provided soon.
