Com Bank top contributor
The Colombo bourse ended marginally down yesterday. Market displayed
signs of momentum from the previous day's during the morning session.
However in the evening session the bourse showed weakness with
negative bias to close red.
ASI dipped by 4.01 points (-0.07%) to close at 6,089.38 while
sensitive MPI declined by 9.88 point (-0.19%) to settle at 5,262.76.
Market turnover stood at Rs. 678.1million.
Commercial Bank Plc (Rs.159.8million) was the top contributor to the
turnover followed by Sampath Bank Plc (Rs.53.7million) and Tess Agro Plc
(Rs.44.3mn). Furthermore Commercial Bank Plc posted three off-the-floor
transactions of 1mn shares at a price of Rs.100.00.
High level of retail activity was seen in the market where retail
investor favourite counters such as Tess Agro Plc, HVA Foods Plc and
Environmental resources Plc traded aggressively during trading hours.
Foreign participation stood 15.5% of the total market activity and at
the end of the day foreign investors were the net sellers with net
foreign outflow of Rs. 173.4 million.
