Police swimmers excel

Police swimmers bagged the men's overall championship while their
women's fleet emerged runner up in the Masters Short Course Swimming
Championship which worked off at the SSC pool.
Policemen collected 633 points to win the men's championship while
the Fishtail Aquatic Club became the runner up, obtaining 243 points.
Police women scored 62 points and had to satisfy with the second
place while the women's winners SSC swimmers posted a total of 195
points.
Ten men's teams and seven women's teams from prominent aquatic sports
clubs, including Navy SC, Otter AC, SSC were lined up for the
championship. Altogether nine men's and five women's age category events
were conducted where Police team won three men's events and a women's
event. S. N. Kumari became the champion in the 30-34 age category event
while W.M Priyantha and K.D.H. Wijayantha added two men's titles to
Police winning 35-39 and 40-44 age category events. R.M. N.W. Bandara
won the third victory for Police team by becoming the champion in 45-49
age category event.
Police team has been trained under the supervision of their aquatic
club President and North Central Province DIG P. S. K. Dayananda and
Police sports division director SP Priyantha Jayakody. Constable R.M. T.
H. Rathnayake captained the team while Police Aquatic Sports Club
Secretary SP D.S. Premasiri also participated in the tournament. |
