Colours for a cause
Colours for a Cause is an Arts and Crafts exhibition showcased by the
children of the Angela Child Development Centre.
The girls (7-18 years) have been practicing for the past few months
with the guidance of their art teacher and handicraft teacher, to bring
together numerous interesting pieces of artwork such as paintings,
painted mugs, pottery, bead jewellery and wall hangings. In addition to
the children at the Home, a handful of the children's friends would also
be showcasing their artwork.
Colour for a Cause would be held on Saturday December 17 from 10.30
am to 7 pm at 'Casa Serena', No. 122 Havelock Road. All proceeds would
be used towards developing the play area of the home.
The home opened its doors to orphans and socially handicapped
children way back in 1951 at the present location Lakshapatiya Moratuwa,
at the behest of late Lady Evadnie De Silva, wife of late Sir Ernest De
Silva. The home is a Government approved charity which is still managed
by family members and supervised by the Child Care and Probation
Department.
The celebrated artist and children's author Sybil Wettasinghe will be
the honoured chief guest. |
