Matara Municipal Council wins overall championship

Matara Municipal Council with 91 points carried away the overall championship of Matara District Local Authorities – Sports Festival which concluded on Friday at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.

The champions were followed by Weligama Provincial Council 51 points and Kotapola Provincial Council with 47 points.

Chief Minister of Southern Province Shan Wijayalal Silva was the chief guest on the final day and gave away the awards. Matara Mayor Sosindra Hadunge and several chairmen of Matara District Provincial Councils were present on the occasion.

Matara Local Government Assistant Commissioner P H K Victor and his office staff organized this sports festival.
