Prof Ananda Jayawardane

Prof. Ananda Jayawardane has been appointed as the new Vice
Chancellor of the Moratuwa University to succeed the outgoing Vice
Chancellor Prof. Malik Ranasinghe who served in that capacity for six
years.
Prof. Ananda Jayawardane served as the first NDB Bank Endowed
Professor in Entrepreneurship at the Moratuwa University for one year
until recently before he assumed duties as the Vice Chancellor. He is
also a Senior Professor in Civil Engineering at the same university.
He served as the first Head of Department of Management of Technology
and the Head, Department of Civil Engineering before he was elected as
the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Moratuwa University in March
2004 in which capacity he served for six years. He is also the immediate
Past President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, the premier
body of professional engineers.
He obtained his BSc Engineering degree with first class honours from
the Moratuwa University in December 1983, a Master of Science Degree in
Construction from the Loughborough University of Technology in the UK in
1986 and PhD in Construction Management in January 1990 from the same
university.
Prof. Jayawardane joined the Moratuwa University in 1984, became a
Professor in December 2001 and Senior Professor in December 2009. |
