‘Police recruitments based on vacancies’

Ethnicity is not considered as a criterium when recruiting personnel to the Sri Lanka Police, Water Supply and Drainage Minister and Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena told Parliament yesterday.

Female thieves in the net

Athurugiriya Police took into custody two females suspected of stealing jewellery, gems and money worth Rs 2,370,000 from a house in Ekamuthu Mawatha, Hokandara. The Police said that after a complaint was made by a man and a woman to Athurugiriya Police on November 22, police seargent Piyal Dunusinghe and a team carried out investigations and found that the woman who behaved suspiciously after lodging the complaint was behind the theft.
