Choppy trading session
The Colombo stock market endured a choppy trading session yesterday.
Benchmark indices closed trading in opposite directions reflecting the
investor uncertainty. ASI dipped by 20.66 points (-0.34%) to close at
6,119.86 while sensitive MPI increased by 9.91 points (+0.19%) to close
at 5,357.45.
Market turnover stood at Rs 870.8 mn.
John Keells Holdings Plc recorded the highest turnover at Rs 512.4 mn.
Moreover the counter recorded four crossings of 2.6 mn shares at a price
of Rs 175.00. In addition Sampath Bank Plc (Rs 35.8 mn) and Blue
Diamonds Non-voting Plc (Rs 28.2 mn) made significant contributions to
the daily turnover. In the meantime notable investor participation was
witnessed in counters such as HVA Foods Plc, Orient Garment Plc and Blue
Diamond Plc.
