U-19 girls 'A' division cager final tomorrow

St. Joseph's Girls School, Nugegoda and St. Lawrence's Convent, Wellawatta will battle for the supremacy in the girls under-19 'A' division Basketball Championship final tomorrow at the St. Joseph's courts, Nugegoda.

St. Joseph's girls beat St. Paul's, Milagiriya (58-29) at their home courts while St. Lawrence's lasses qualified for the final by defeating Good Shepard Convent, Kotahena (55-18) in the two semi finals played at the same venue.

St. Joseph's team registered a 13 point lead mid way (29-16) against Milagiriya girls. Saduni Perera and Jayani Nugi scored 15 points each while Dewni Kawshalya added 11 points for the winners. Gayanka Satharasinghe and Avanthi Gunawardana contributed nine points each while Koshini De Silva collected six points for the St. Paul's team.

Shepardians played aggressively in the beginning of the second semi final but soon were tamed by St. Lawrence's girls who posted a comfortable 37 point lead in the end (55-18). Winners were 19 points ahead at half time (27-8).

Natasha Perera and Dulari Silva scored 21 points and 10 points respectively for the winning team while Ishika Alles top scored eight points for the losing team.

Consolation final between Good Shepard Convent and St. Paul's, Milagiriya will also be worked off on Friday before the final at St. Joseph's courts, Nugegoda.
