Kosmodara vihara mandiraya renovated

The Archaeological Department has begun the renovation work of the old vihara mandiraya of Kosmodara Sri Subodarama Viharaya to conserve the murals and statues. This viharaya located in a scenic sight in Kosmodara near the Kotapola-Urubokka road was founded by Ven Hiniduma Nayaka Thera in 1829.

Current Viharadhipathi and Lekakadhikari of Deniyaya-Kotapola West Sasanarakshaka Balamandalaya Ven Talangalle Punnasara Thera told the Daily News that the Archaeological Department has allocated about Rs 400,000 for the initial phase of the renovation work at a request of Kumarasiri Hettige, Parliamentary Affairs Secretary to the President.
