Palestine pledges to standby SL

Minister Wimal Weerawansa with Ambassador Dr Anver Al Agha

Palestine stressed that it will extend its utmost support to Sri Lanka to overcome the pressure posed by certain international elements.

This was conveyed at a meeting held between Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa and Palestine Ambassador in Sri Lanka Dr. Anver-Al Agha. He said certain international forces want to de-stabilize Sri Lanka.

"Palestine always stands by Sri Lanka for its sovereignty," the Ambassador said and thanked President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Sri Lankan government for the support extended to obtain the membership in UNESCO.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa stated that Sri Lanka has maintained a close relationship with Palestine since ancient times.

"President Rajapaksa had done a great service to strengthen Sri Lanka-Palestine Cooporation," the minister added.
