Caught redhanded

Two suspects who made an unsuccessful attempt to snatch a gold chain from a young girl near the Kithokade Bus halt in Padaviya were arrested by Padaviya police which tracked them down by tracing the registered number of the motorcycle used by the suspects.

When the suspects who arrived in the motorcycle snatched the gold chain, the victim had raised cries and grappled with the snatch thief who sped off to avoid the crowd which immediately rushed to the scene.

In the melee, the necklace had fallen off their grip of the suspects in their rush to escape. The victim had however alerted the police by giving the registered number of the motorcycle which she had noted down. The two suspects were due to be produced in court.
