'World should move to Marxism'

The capitalist structure has created an economic crisis in the world
and to study the root cause of the crisis, the world should go to
Marxism, Senior Minister for Human Resources Dew Gunasekara said.
He was delivering a lecture on "The politics of globalization and its
new trends" at the 94th anniversary of the Great October Revolution at
the Communist Party head office at Sugeeswara hall, Borella yesterday.
'The historic revolution changed the face of Russia and led to the
birth of a beginning of transition from capitalism to communism.
'The theories which were presented in the Das Capital are in demand
and the world is moving towards its philosophy on economy more than
ever, he said.
'Some segments of the JVP are running after its founder Rohana
Wijeweera to restructure its party but they should go after Karl Marx if
they need a true change, he said. The minister appreciated the
government's far-sighted policies on the economy as they have helped in
the growth of agriculture, rural economy, entrepreneurship and overall
development in each sphere of the country. The manner the government
faced the global crisis is commendable," he said.
The minister said if the UNP government had been in power during the
crisis the second riot would have started in the country. The UNP is a
party with least reading on Marxism, he said. After the Soviet Union
ceased in 1991, the bipolar system ended paving the way for the unipolar
system to be crucial in the world. The neo-liberal economic policies
became the regulatory power of the economy.
'America has been in crisis for years and they have no way of getting
rid of the crisis. China, India, Brazil , Russia and South Africa has
become the emerging economies in the world and Asia has become the
controller of world economy, he said. 'Imperialist countries led by
American aimed at Asia to find places to survive when they cannot afford
the possible changes of the world.
'They come out in the guise of human rights and war crimes to
suppress other countries in lieu of this inevitable cause.
