Telltale sign gives the game away

The telltale sign of an injury on the head suffered by a member of a robber gang at the hands of a youth in a house at Periyakulam ransacked by them, helped the Killinochchi Police to track him down with the assistance of staff at the Killinochchi Hospital two days later.

The robbers had entered the house at Periyakulam, Kilinochchi wielding clubs and toy pistols and ransacked the house after holding the occupants at bay. A youth in the house had attacked the gang with a hammer.

The robbers took to their heels leaving one of them who was attacked on the head with the hammer. He struggled with the youth inspite of being injured and had escaped.

Two days later, he had gone to the Kilinochchi hospital to get his wound dressed. The Kilinochchi police had informed the hospital to keep watch on persons seeking treatment for an injury on the head. When the robber went to the hospital, he was caught and handed over to the police.

The Police after interrogation, produced him before the Kilinochchi Magistrate. He was remanded.
