Solid SC and Matara City battle it out in final
Premier League division two football tournament:

Solid Sports Club, Anuradhapura will battle it out with Matara City
Sports Club in the Premier League Division 11 finals on October 29 at
German Football Complex, Matara.
The tournament organized by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL)
had been in progress with the participation of 14 teams around the
island.
The finalists, Solid SC and Matara City SC both won five matches each
in the first round.
Matara City SC defeated Eastern Youth SC by a huge margin, 6 - 0 and
overcame Hyline SC by 4-1, Solid SC by 3-0 and had the better of SLTB SC
who could not reply to Matara City SC's two goals.
In the last match of first round they defeated Jetliners SC by 4 - 1
while the semi-finals saw Supur Sun SC being sent out of the tournament
when they lost to Matara City SC by 0-4.
Anuradhapura Solid SC must be looking forward to take revenge in the
finals after having lost to Matara City SC by 0-3 in the first round.
But in another match they overcame Hyline SC by 5 - 0 and managed to
send Jetliners SC home by 1 - 0 and defeated SLTB SC by 3 - 2.
Solid SC also secured a half a dozen goals to one victory when they
defeated Eastern Youth SC in the last match of the first round.
In a drawn semi-final with Colombo SC, Solid SC entered the finals in
a penalty shoot out where they won by 5 - 4
Apart form the champions trophy a cash prize of Rs. 250,000 is on
offer along with the Medals. The Runner-up team will receive Trophy with
Cash
Prize of Rs. 100,000/- and Medals. K.P.P. Pathirane, Chairman,
Competition
Committee of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka will be the Chief
Guest at the final on October 29. |
