Postal Dept launches new billing proof system

An address verification system which can be used as billing proof will be introduced by the Postal Department, a Postal Department official said.

The address verification or proofing address is a must for obtaining many post paid services available in the country. As an address verification, a billing proof has to be submitted for obtaining services such as getting mobile phone connections, obtaining credit card facilities and many other post paid services.

However, in several cases customers face difficulty in providing such address verification . Considering this issue the Postal Department will provide an on-line address verification method for organization such as banks, mobile connection providers etc. Once registered, these organizations can log onto the system and get addresses verified. Not only corporate organizations but also individuals can get the benefit. Accordingly, the customer need not provide billing proof, instead he must submit the verifying address.

Besides, the Postal Department has already introduced an advanced bill payment system called e-billing. Using this system telephone, mobile phone, electricity, water supply, satellite connections, Internet service, and other regular payments like insurance premiums, institutional fees, fines and membership fees, etc can be paid on-line at post offices.
