Heart warming performance
Morita String Quartet:
Demi Hewamanna
The Morita String Quartet |
It was one soulful, quiet and wonderful feeling at the Mount Lavinia
Hotel Empire Ballroom last week when the Morita String Quartet performed
some beaufitul classical numbers. Even through the heavy shower that
poured down that evening people did not take it as an excuse to miss the
fantastic event.
Masahiro Morita, Eshantha J. Pieris, Asa Nakajima, Hiroshi
Miyasaka and Gentaro Sakaguchi |
For each performance the audience applauded and listened in great awe
as the Quartet led by Masahiro Morita brought out their performance in
harmony. Each artist in his and her own way brought out so much passion
through simple strings.
The Quartet included Masahiro Morita (Violin), Asa Nakajima (Violin),
Gentaro Sakaguchi (Viola) and Hiroshi Miyasaka (Violoncello). There was
also a performance with Eshantha J. Pieris on piano that brought a lot
of life and energy in their performance taking the audience to a much a
higher level. The last two items on they played were Japanese folk songs
and both performances gave people goosebumps and feeling of peace and
serenity in their minds. The programme included classical works such as
Joseph Haydn: String Quartet No 62 "Emperor" in C-Major Op 76 No. 3,
Antonin Dvorak: String Quartet No 12 "America" in F-Major Op. 96,
Lalantha de Silva: Piano Quintet "Tablesque" (World Premiere) and Robert
Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-Flat Major Op 44.
