“This restaurant will be able to host over 100 guests and will add a
value to the hotel,” he said.
A French national, Gruhier said the management completely refurbished
all their 346 rooms and now they are in a position to market the hotel
from US $ 130 to US $ 900.
He said Sri Lanka’s leisure industry is poised for major growth and
he was happy to be in the country at the right time.
Asked if international players like Hyatt, Shangri-La and Doubletree
of Hilton entering the Sri Lankan hospitality industry would have a
negative impact for a local brand like Cinnamon he answered in the
negative.
“Top international brands entering the country would automatically
market Sri Lanka as a high end destination,” he said.
“Cinnamon is a local brand and no other international player will be
able to match our hospitality,” he added. The new General Manager said
they are looking at making more investments in the food and beverage
sector. |
