Over a hundred Table Tennis coaches and Referees from all parts of
country will participate in a two day residential coaching clinic
organised by the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Coaches Association and with the
blessings of the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Association which will be held
at the Jagath Rajapakse International Table Tennis Stadium at Ganegoda
off Peradeniya today and tomorrow commencing each day at 8 am.
This is one of the major table tennis coaching clinics to be held in
the hill country. One of the main influencing factors is the multi
million International Table Tennis stadium being located here. This
Table Tennis stadium the only one of its kind in the country has
facilities to play 16 matches simultaneously and has been built upto
international standards with even the floor being carpeted at a cost of
nearly Rs 10 million with Jagath Rajapakse channelling all his resources
towards improving the facilities at this stadium which was declared two
months ago.
Jagath Rajapakse who is also the National table tennis coach said
that the coaching clinch scheduled to commence today has been targeted
to reach schools which does not play table tennis and this includes
rural areas. It is not only the coaches and referees who have been
invited but also Teachers in Charge will participate at this coaching
clinic.
By training the Table Tennis coaches and Teachers In Charge, the game
could reach a larger area. The participants could in turn train the
youngsters under their charge. |
