Speed Racing finale tomorrow

The Pannala Race Track will be filled with action when the finals of
the Speed Racing Series will be held this Sunday. The championship is
jointly organized by the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Motor Cycle
Club, Motor Racing Association and the Asian Motor Racing Club and it
will be the fourth and final round of the championship.
Upon successful completion of the third round which was held in June
this year, the organizers are confident on high level of competition
under the improved improved safety facilities.
The SLGT 3500CC class which is probably the most popular motorcar
events will see the champion driver Dinesh Deheragoda streaming through
to another championship win, whatever the result of tomorrow's race
would be.
In the SL H 1600CC event, Ashan Silva leads the points table with 30
points, 18 ahead of second placed Sajad Zuhair.
The other popular events will include and the classes of the Mini,
Nissan March, Ford Laser and the Formula Ford together with the Formula
Mclarens 1300.
The championship has also made way to newcomers who will race in the
Formula Mclarens 1300 event.
The results of this championship will be taken towards the 2011
national championship of the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports. There will be
motor cycle events worked off as well and those results will also be
counted in for the national championship of the Federation of Motor
Cycle Sports in Sri Lanka.
The local riders will have to face tough competition from some
foreign riders who are expected to ride at Pannala tomorrow and it will
definitely add colour to the racing extravaganza. |
