National Health Week - Observation Day

Today is 'Observation Day' of the National Health Week which commenced on October 3. Many programmes will take place countrywide to mark this day and the week.

Today Kegalle General Hospital will be declared as a no smoking zone as part of the programme, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman the ministry will launch field surveys at village, regional and divisional levels with the assistance of Medical Officers of Health in collaboration with the Ministries of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

The main objective of these surveys is identifying and reporting of special patients, disabled persons and those who need relief and assistance.

Programmes are to be held to clean urban areas, drainage systems, etc. Armed forces, Police Environmental Unit, Local Government authorities and MOHs will take part in these programmes, he said.
