He asked the people to think whether the development of cities can be
handed over to a party which fails to maintain discipline.
The Prime Minister said that the people in the Colombo city are not
ready to reverse the development drive implemented by the government.
He said the people should rethink the future of the country
surpassing conventional thinking.
"It is the duty and responsibility of the urban people to win the
city at the local polls on October 8.
"Today we have an aim. That aim is nothing but the development of the
country. President Mahinda Rajapaksa was born in a village. But he did
not forget the city. The Colombo city has undergone many changes during
the last few years. The government has developed all cities in the
country, he said.
"The period in which we had a narrow world view is no more."
He said that the period in which the people voted for petty and
narrow gains is over.
The Prime Minister added that cracks have developed in the UNP and
they do not have a vision for the country's development. There was an
era in which the underworld figures decided the development of the
country.
The Prime Minister said that the CMC had no proper methodology to
collect garbage in the city when the UNP was in power. |
