Kegalu Vidyalaya recovers

Kegalu Vidyalaya recovered from a disastrous position to total 184 all out on the first day of their inter-school cricket match against Vidyartha College which began at Police Ground, Kandy yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.

Kegalu Vidyalaya taking first lease of the wicket were off to a worst possible start when they lost their first seven wickets for just 38 runs.

Their first discovery when Tharindu Somaratne (18) and Samadhi Dassanayake (79) put on 41 for the eight wicket to stem the collapse.

The best partnership of the innings came when Samadhi Dassanayake on 104 for the ninth wicket with Dilshendra Ranaweera 33 not out which brought a lot of respectability to the total.

Samadhi Dassanayake hit 14 fours in his knock which lasted 135 balls. It was his knock which saved Kegalu Vidyalaya from a complete debacle. Isuru Weerasinghe 3 for 19 and Tharindu Ranaweera 4 for 36 bowled well for Vidyartha College.

At close Vidyartha College had replied with 27 for no loss.

Kegalu Vidyalaya 184 all out in 74 overs (Sahan Chathuranga 10, Tharindu Somaratne 18, Samadhi Dassanayake 79, Dilshendra Ranaweera 33 not out Tharindu Ranaweera 4 for 36, Isuru Weerasinghe 3 for 19) Vidyartha College 27 for no loss in 6 overs.
