Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya(SLNSS) Secretary General Leslie Devendra.
He was participating at the ITF Asia/Pacific Regional Committee meeting
which held yesterday at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo.
He also said that it is a privilege to get the support of the
International Transport Worker's Federation(ITF) as it is a powerful
trade union federation of the transport worker's union,
The ITF is one of several global federation unions allied with the
International Trade Union Confederation.
'About 700 unions representing five million transport workers from
163 countries are members of the ITF, said SLNSS Secretary General.
'There are a large number of workers in Sri Lanka's transport sector
and it is necessary to protect their rights. Trade unions have a very
