Medical camp for Mallakam Civilians
Nearly 800 civilians in and around Mallakam received medical
treatment and advice from specialist doctors from Kandy during a one day
medical clinic organized by the 51 Division of Security Forces
Headquarters - Jaffna (SF-J) on Thursday.
Consultant Physician Dr. Achala Balasuriya, Consultant Rheumatologist
Dr. Priyani Wanigasekara, Consultant Eye Surgeon Dr. Kalathevi
Sivayoganathan, Consultant Physician Dr. V. Kularathne, Consultant
Physician Dr. Dharmalingam, Consultant Physician Dr. K. Nirmalan and
Consultant Gynaecologist Dr. Ruwan Abesinghe from Gampola, Nuwara Eliya
and Teaching Hospital, Kandy conducted the medical camp from Thursday
morning at Alaveddy Mahajana Sabai Hall.
Schoolchildren and adults were among those who were examined by the
Kandy medical team assisted by Consultant Eye Surgeon of Jaffna Teaching
Hospital Dr. S.T.S. Chandra Kumar, Commanding Officer Army Base hospital
Palaly Major S.A.A.S. Kumara and nursing staff of the Jaffna Teaching
hospital and Palaly Army Base hospital.
Arrangements had been made to give medicine free to many patients
according to prescriptions while some were referred to hospital clinics
for further treatment.
Jaffna Teaching hospital Director Dr. Pasupathiraja, Hemas
Pharmaceutical in Colombo and Vision Care Opticians in Jaffna also
extended their assistance to the Army to conduct a successful medical
camp.
Civil Affairs Office of the 513 Brigade at Uduvil coordinated the
programme. |
