'All MPs receive annual allocations'

The government on Friday stressed that it has been making an annual allocation of Rs 5 million to each and every Parliamentarian, irrespective of their party, for development activities in the area.

Economic Development Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that these allocations have not been reduced by the government.

The deputy minister said while UNP front liner Ravi Karunanayake says that he had not received any allocation for this year, other UNP MPs say that they have been allocated funds for development activities this year.

Abeywardena also noted that the Economic Development Ministry had allocated Rs.905 million for the decentralized budget in 2011 as well.
