Full Palestinian UN membership
Arab League approves plans:
The Arab League (AL) and three international
organizations approved Saturday plans for supporting the Palestinian
full membership in the United Nations. The AL Secretary General
Nabil el-Arabi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Amr, the African
Union Commission Chairman Jean Ping, and Assistant General Secretary
of the Islamic Cooperation Organization for Palestinian affairs
Samir Baker, held a meeting to coordinate diplomatic efforts and
support the plans for the Palestinian moves towards getting a full
UN membership.

Strauss-Kahn back in Paris after sex scandal
Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn returned
to Paris Sunday for the first time since a New York hotel cleaner
accused him of attempted rape in a torrid sex scandal that scuppered
his hopes for the French presidency. Strauss-Kahn and his wife Anne
Sinclair arrived at dawn at Charles de Gaulle airport on an Air
France flight from New York and were whisked off in a black Peugeot
to their apartment in the chic Place des Vosges.

Anna Hazare promises more shocks for govt
Indian anti-graft campaigner Anna Hazare has
urged people to give the scandal-hit government in Delhi “repeated
shocks” to rid the country of the scourge of corruption. Back in his
village in Maharashtra state after a nearly two-week fast in New
Delhi last month, Hazare — dressed in his customary plain white
cotton clothes and cap — vowed late on Friday to fight corruption to
“the bitter end.”
