Nine persons were hospitalized and several houses and business establishments were damaged on September 02 in Yonakapura, Dikwella. An incident at a cricket tournament leading to an argument was the cause to this mini riot.

The Dikwella police who could not bring the hostilities under control had to call in the STF and the Army to bring peace to the area and prevent it from spreading.

Religious leaders, members of civic organizations, political leaders met at the Dikwella Pradeshiya Sabha Auditorium on Saturday to settle the dispute between the two parties.

It was decided to produce the persons responsible for the clash before the Matara Magistrate and a settlement to be agreed upon in Court.
