Thangaraja wins August Grand Prix

Sri Lanka’s leading Amateur Golfer N. Thangaraja shot a one over par
74 in the last round to win the August Pin Fernando Grand Prix played
over four rounds at Victoria Golf and Country Club recently.
Thangaraja had nine under total of 283 for four rounds to win by five
shots from Wijitha Bandara who scored four under par 288.

Maldivian national soccer team to Germany
The Maldivian national men’s football team is to tour Germany in
November, 2011. They will play 10 matches during their three-week tour.
The Maldivians will play matches in Hamburg, Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich,
Dortmund and Bremen during their visit which would give them the much
needed foreign exposure. The tour is being organised by the Maldives
Football Federation in collaboration with the Asian German Sports
Exchange Programme. The German club teems will make a reciprocal tour of
Maldives in 2012.
