Law College honours President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa was yesterday honoured with the title Voharapathi on the occasion of the 137th anniversary of the Colombo Law College at a function at the Colombo Law College premises.

The President who reached the highest position of the country was a student of its 100th batch.

President Rajapaksa was conferred the Voharapathi honorary award for bringing honour to the College.

Law College Principal W.d. Rodrigo presented the award to the President.

President Rajapaksa also commissioned the medical centre at the College premises.

Ven Kirinde Assagi Thera of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya, conducted the religious observances.

A Seth Pirith chanting to invoke blessings on the President also took place at the College premises.

Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake, Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem, Attorney General Mohan Peiris PC, judges and legal luminaries were present.
