Debate competition on Adolescent Sexual and Productive Health

The award ceremony of the national level debate competition on
Adolescent Sexual and Productive Health organized by Lanka youth
organizations network, The National Youth Services Council, Family
Planning Association and UNFPA was ceremonially held recently at the
BMICH, Colombo.
The leader of the champions team (Kurunegala) receives the
trophy from the Deputy Speaker Chandima Weer-akkody. The
Chairman and Director General Lalith Piyum Perera and Sri
Lanka representative of UNFPA Lene K Christiansen, also
present. |
The chief guest of the occasion was the Deputy Speaker Chandima
Weerakkody.
The initial competitions were held in district level islandwide. The
competitions were held in Sinhala and Tamil mediums. Sixteen Sinhala
medium and 16 Tamil medium teams took part at the competition.
Kurunegala and Galle district teams (Sinhala) and Vavuniya and Mannar
teams (Tamil) took part in the finals and championship trophies were
clinched by Kurunegala (Sinhala) and Mannar (Tamil) district teams.
Parliamentarian Jayaratnam Sri Ranga, the Chairman and Director
General of the NYSC Lalith Piyum Perera, United Nations Population Fund,
Sri Lanka representative Lene K Christiansen also graced the occasion.
Sahiru Madushan of Galle district team and P L Elilnangai of Mannar
team adjudged the best debator and debatress of the competition. |
