Education, Career Guidance Fair on Sept 10:
OpenArc organizes ‘Choices 2011’
‘Choices - 2011’, an education and career guidance seminar organized
by OpenArc School of Business and Technology in collaboration with the
University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) and the Institute of
Certified Management Accountants (CMA), will be held on September 10 at
9 am at the New Art Theatre Auditorium of the Colombo University.
The biggest challenge facing parents of students who had sat for the
GCE (Advanced Level) examination is how best they could guide their
children along a viable career path where productive employment
opportunities are in abundance.
What are the educational qualifications required to be recognized as
a professional in such a rewarding sphere? On the other hand, what are
the educational institutions which can be depended on to achieve
academic excellence by earning a well recognized and widely accepted
qualification?
The primary objective of the ‘Choices - 2011’ Education and Career
Guidance Seminar is to bring together students and parents under one
roof, enlighten them on professional career opportunities that are
available and help and guide them to overcome problems and difficulties
they may face. The Seminar is open to all free of charge.
University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) Director Prof. Gihan
Wickramanayake, OpenArc Group of Companies Chairman Daya Hettiarachchi
and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) Executive
Director L. Wattegedara will address participants at the ‘Choices -
2011’ Education and Career Guidance Seminar.
A special feature of this seminar will be the active participation of
a leading commercial bank to offer special loan facilities to students
who need financial assistance to pursue their professional studies.
Students and their parents can make use of this event to openly and
freely discuss whatever constraints they may face in raising funds for
the progress of educational and career activities.
There will be special emphasis at the forthcoming seminar on the
importance on the part of students in opting for the Bachelor of
Information Technology (BIT) External Degree of the Colombo University
and the CMA qualification offered by the Institute of Certified
Management Accountants, and it will be lucidly explained why they should
select the OpenArc School of Business and Technology to follow these
higher education study courses.
Students and parents will also be educated on ‘Navodaya’, the full
scholarship offered by OpenArc to deserving students who show prowess in
the sphere of information technology.
More details can also be obtained during this seminar on educational
and training courses available for those working on a full-time basis in
the information technology industry as well as for persons eager to
venture into this rewarding field while engaged in other professions.
