Hybrid cars selling fast

More than 2,000 hybrid cars and 700 Nano cars were sold to Sri Lankan
customers this year.
Hybrid cars totalling 2,639 have been registered in Sri Lanka from
March to July this year.
Registrar of Motor Vehicles Statistician Anura de Silva told Daily
News Business that the registration of hybrid cars began in March this
year with 340 cars.
The demand for hybrid cars is increasing rapidly because it consumes
less petrol than conventional cars. These are the most
environment-friendly cars in the market.
Seven hundred Nano cars have been sold between June to the end of
August, DIMO Business Unit Manager for TATA Passenger Vehicle Yasantha
Wijesekara said.
The demand for Nano cars have increased and they assured to provide a
better service to its customers in the future.
He said any Sri Lankan driver, regardless of financial standing,
could consider the Nano a very economical purchase. The Nano is the
first car in Sri Lanka to come with a four year warranty for 90,000
kilometres.
The company provides a 24-hour service for Nano car customers.
The world’s cheapest car, TATA Nano was launched in Sri Lanka in mid
May 2011, with a price tag starting at Rs 925,000 including tax. |
