Esala Perahera on grand scale

Arrangements are being made to conduct the Kandy Esala Perahera 2011 on a grand scale.

On July 31 at 7.07 am the Kap will be erected at the four Devalas in Kandy and the Perahera will be conducted within the Devala premises until August 30.

From August 4 to 14, the Perahera will be conducted along the streets of Kandy. The first Kumbal Perahera will commence on August 4.

On the same day the Perahera of the four Devalas will come upto the main gate of the Sri Dalada Maligawa and from there at 6.55 pm the full perahera will proceed along Dalada Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Pansala Para, Deva Veediya, Srimath Bennet Soysa Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 5, the Perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 8.06 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 6, The perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 7.30 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Srimath Bennet Soysa Veediya, E L Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 7, the perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 6.55 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, E L Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya, and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 8, the perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 6.50 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

The first Randoli perahera will start on August 9. On the same day the perahera of four Devalas with Randoli will come up to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, and at 7.55 pm join the Dalada Perahera to proceed along Dalada Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Pansala Para, Deva Veediya, Srimath Bennet Soysa Veediya, E L Senanayake Veediya, Cross Street, D S Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 10, the perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 7.35 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Srimath Bennet Soysa Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 11, the perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 8.22 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, E L Senanayake Veediya, Srimath Bennet Soysa Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kumara Veediya, E L Senanayake Veediya, Cross Street, D S Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 12, the perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 8.30 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuarwa Veediya, Cross Street, E L Senanayake Veediya, Kande Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 13, the perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 8.30 pm and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa.

On August 14 at 1.10 am the Devala perahera will join the Dalada Maligawa Perahera and proceed along Dalada Veediya, D S Senanayake Veediya to the Gedige Vihara and after depositing the Sacred Relic Casket there, it will return to Devales.

Before the dawn of August 14 the Devala Peraheras will proceed along Peradeniya Road to the Getambe Thota for the water cutting (Diya Kapana) Mangallaya. Thereafter the Devala Perahera will return along the same road to the Ganadevi Kovila.

On August 14, the Devala peraheras will start form the Ganadevi Kovila at 1.20 pm and proceed along Katukele Para, Dalada Veediya, Kotugodella Veediya, Kande Veediya and at the D S Senanayake Veediya join the Sri Dalada Maligawa Perahera which will start at 2.42 pm from the Gedige Vihara and proceed along D S Senanayake Veediya, Pansala Para, Deva Veediya, Raja Veediya and Circle Round the Maliagwa Chaturassraya three times before returning to the respective Devalas. The auspices time for depicting the Sacred Relics is 4.45 pm on August 14.
