Jewellery worth Rs 3.5 m stolen from pawning centre

Gold jewellery worth Rs 3.5 million was robbed from the Kosgoda People’s Bank pawning centre in Balapitiya yesterday morning. Two men who had come in the guise of customers to the centre had stolen the jewellery and fled on a motorcycle, witnesses said.

Four nabbed with stamps issued to ministers

The Slave Island Police took four suspects into custody who are alleged to have been in possession of stamps issued to ministers. The Police have also seized Rs 5,080 worth of stamps issued to the ministers, from a communication centre in Colombo 2.
