Be vigilant of dengue breeding grounds - Ministry

The Health Ministry yesterday warned the public to be vigilant about dengue mosquito breeding sites following rain being experienced in the country.

The Ministry Epidemiology Unit releasing latest statistics on the dengue situation in the country, said 11,901 dengue cases and 93 deaths were reported from all parts of the country by July 15.

According to the sources, the highest number of dengue cases 4,632 and 37 deaths were reported from the Colombo district. The Colombo Municipal Council area recorded 1,804 Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever cases and 13 deaths, Gampaha district recorded 1497 dengue cases and 15 deaths and Kalutara district of 689 dengue cases and five deaths.

“During the past 15 days, 1,684 dengue cases and 16 deaths were reported from all parts of the country. A total of 3,412 dengue cases and 14 deaths were reported from all parts of the country last month.
