Colombo Engineering in ship repairing feat

The German - owned container vessel Courier managed by Reederei GEBR.

The ship under repair

Winter GMBH and CO.KG of Hamburg required urgent replacement of 302 metres of steel vertical container cell guides in its container holds.

As this was a very sophisticated and urgent requirement the owners of the vessel initially contacted the Dubai Drydocks and confirmed the repair to them.

Acting upon information received, Kiran Atapattu of Colombo Engineering contacted the ship owner direct and convinced him of the ability of Colombo Engineering to handle this urgent repair efficiently and got the ship diverted to Sri Lanka. The Colombo Engineering ship repair teams completed the replacement of 302 metres of steel in 96 hours thereby bringing into the country US $ 60,000 worth of foreign exchange and proving to the international shipping companies that Sri Lanka has the technical capability to handle any sophisticated job.
