Fire at Ministry building

A fire at the Economic Development Ministry building at T B Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10 destroyed a few files, Economic Development Ministry Acting Secretary Nihal Somaweera said. “No data was damaged in the fire as all the relevant files have been stored in the computer database,” Somaweera said.

It is believed that a short circuit caused the fire.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire which broke out at around 3.40 pm on the Fifth Floor. No casualties were reported.

The fire was immediately doused by the Fire Brigade and Police.
