Minister Weerawansa meets Thai PM

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva told visiting Sri Lankan Minister Wimal Weerawansa in Bangkok that Thailand would extend its fullest cooperation for development work in Sri Lanka for which the two countries have to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka.

The Thai Prime Minister made this observation when he had a meeting with Construction Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa who was on a state visit to Bangkok where he will attend the Asian Pacific Special Settlement Conference.

All Housing Ministers who had come to Thailand to attend the conference, met the Thai Prime Minister with whom they exchanged views on the housing projects undertaken in their respective countries.

Minister Weerawansa explained details of the one million houses Janasevana programme launched in Sri Lanka. Thai Prime Minister Vejjajiva spoke about the various difficulties the countries have to undergo in the implementation of the urban and rural settlement development projects at length. He said natural disasters had been a big problem for undertaking housing projects.
