Boxing star dies in accident

A 25-year old female boxing star died on the spot while two others were injured in a van accident on Saturday at around 8.40 am at Nelundeniya Junction on the Colombo-Kandy main road.

The victim T L Buddhika Iresha Abeywardena, represented Mas Holdings Company as a boxer.

Abeywardena was knocked down while crossing the road, police said.

The driver of the vehicle and woman who travelled in the van have been admitted to the Kegalle Teaching Hospital. Dedigama police are investigating.
