Jetwing Blue opens
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa was the chief guest of
the opening ceremony of the Jetwing Blue Hotel in Negombo on June 24.
Jetwing Blue, formerly known as Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel holds a special
place in the annals of Jetwing’s history books.
The reason was that when it was built in 1973 it was to mark the
beginning of Jetwing Hotels and can be therefore considered to be the
cornerstone of Jetwing’s exciting and industrious journey within the
tourism and hospitality industry.
From a small six roomed property in 1973 the hotel now has 112
stylish rooms including 21 super deluxe rooms, three family rooms and
six spectacular skyline suites. With its two swimming pools, spa and
gymnasium the hotel is equipped to ensure a relaxed and fun weekend away
from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. For tennis and squash
enthusiasts, there are tennis and squash courts to spend countless hours
in for an excellent workout at the sister hotel, Jetwing Beach.
However the pride and joy of Jetwing Blue is indisputably its
fabulous state-of-the-art conference and banqueting hall which can seat
600. This is the largest hall available in the Negombo area and it is
ideally situated for important business functions, gala events or
weddings.
State Resources and Enterprise Development Deputy Minister Sarath
Gunarathna, MP Sudharshani Fernandopulle, Western Provincial Council
Minister Nimal Lansa, Jetwing Chairman Hiran Cooray and Sri Lanka
Tourism Development Authority Chairman Dr Nalaka Godahewa also
participated at this event. |
