Captain for the final Npower Test, Kumar Sangakkara who scored his
maiden century on England soil, Sri Lanka managed to salvage a draw
at the Rose Bowl, here today. When the game began on the final day,
with Sri Lanka needing 81 to avert an innings defeat, it needed
determined and courageous batting from the batsmen to stall the
England bowlers from going on the rampage and destroying the innings
like they did in Cardiff.

Sri Lanka best WC host
The International Cricket Council has rated Sri
Lanka as the best out of the three host nations that conducted the
ICC Cricket World Cup in the sub continent in March/April this year.
Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said that the ICC
have named Sri Lanka as the best host nation following a successful
World Cup where a total of twelve matches including one quarterfinal
and a semifinal was also worked off in the island.

Kingswood, Amal IS enter semis
Kingswood College and Amal International Schools
(Havelock Town) entered the semi-finals of the all island schools
under 17 ‘B’ Division Basketball Championship organized by the Sri
Lanka Schools Basketball Association and the Kandy District Schools
Basketball Association after the two quarter-finals played at
Kingswood College Basketball courts, Kandy yesterday.
