Drug haul from safe house in Hanwella
Eight kg heroin valued at Rs 40 m:

Police yesterday seized over eight kgs of heroin valued at Rs 40
million from a safe house at Hanwella. According to Police, the safe
house is owned by a multi-millionaire businessman, allegedly responsible
for distributing heroin mainly in Colombo and suburbs.
Police took into custody a woman suspected of acting as the caretaker
of the safe house. Police Narcotics Bureau officers, following lengthy
investigations, arrested a key suspect from Mulleriyawa last Wednesday
which led to the breakthrough.
At the time of the arrest, the suspect was in possession of 122 grams
of heroin and Rs four million hidden inside his vehicle. The raid on the
safe house had been conducted on information given by the suspect
arrested on Wednesday, the Police said.
The Police are investigating under the direction of its Narcotics
division head SP J.P.U.Jayasinghe. |
