Youth dies in wild jumbo attack
A youth who was attacked by a wild elephant near the Sinharaja border
succumbed to his injuries. E R Nimal Kumara, 20, of Weddagala, Panapola
of the Kalawana electorate was the victim of this accident.
The victim's head was severely damaged in the attack which occurred
on May 31. Kalawana police is investigating.
Abhayagiriya artifacts to be displayed at exhibition

The Cultural and Arts Ministry has organized an exhibition to display
artifacts found in the Abhayagiriya project excavation, a Cultural
Affairs Ministry source said.
The ministry will hold the exhibition at the Abhayagiriya Museum from
June 15 to 18.
Many artifacts have been found in the Abhayagiriya project
excavations, he said.
Biscuit company fined for breaking law
A biscuit manufacturing company in Matale which sold biscuit packets
without displaying the serial number, manufacturing date and expiry date
was fined Rs 20,000 by Anuradhapura Additional Magistrate Chandima
Edirimanna. Several biscuit packets manufactured by this company were
taken into custody by Mihintale Public Health Inspectors Nuwan Kulatunga
and H L Seneviratne during a raid in the area.
Isipathana Poson perahera
The annual Poson perahera organized by the Primary Section of
Isipathana Vidyalaya, Colombo will be held on June 14. About 1600
students in the primary will take part in this procession which
comprises local dancing items and tuskers. The Perahera will start at 8
am from the school and will pass Isipathana Mawatha, High Level Road,
Udyana Road and back to the school. |
