Probe on train delays

A full investigation has begun into train delays which occurred due to a signal failure between Colombo Fort and Maradana railway stations yesterday, Sri Lanka Railways Planning Director Vijaya Samarasinghe said.

He said trains which began their journeys from Colombo Fort and Maradana and trains which reached Colombo Fort and Maradana were delayed due to this error in the railway signal system from yesterday morning.

“A number of our services had been disrupted yesterday as a result of a signaling problem between Maradana and Colombo Fort,” he said. He assured that it would return to normal as soon as the system is repaired.

Meanwhile, commuters had disrupted their journeys due to a signal light failure between Maradana and Colombo Fort railway stations.
