Detainees: info available at three places

Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) Deputy Inspector General of Police on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has issued a public notice stating that close relatives of detainees could obtain information from three places with immediate effect.

The DIG said the three places are Terrorist Investigation Division, Second Floor, New Secretariat Building, Colombo 1 - telephone 011-2384400. Terrorist Investigation Unit, Kandy Road, Vavuniya (opposite the DIG's Office), telephone: 024- 3243207 and Terrorist Investigation Unit, Racecourse Road, Boosa, Galle. Telephone 091- 2267084.

The DIG said that details of these detainees will be issued only to their close relatives, Parents -spouse -children or brothers.

They should establish their identity through a certificate issued by the area OIC or the Gramasevaka of the area of residence.

A round-the-clock mechanism has been established in the three centres to provide details of the detainees and those who are already released from detention by the TID, the DIG added.
