Pongal festival draws large crowds

The Mega Vathapallai Kannaki Amman temple annual pongal festival which falls today is drawing a large crowd from all parts of Jaffna district.

A special bus service to the temple has been arranged from Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mullaithivu bus depots by SLTB and private bus owners.

This pongal is celebrated by members of other faiths too. Temple administrators appealed to devotees to refrain from wearing gold jewellery to the pongal festival.
