Suspects in looting spree remanded

Four men suspected of stealing electrical goods, mobile phones and jewellery from houses and shops in Polonnaruwa, Galle and Kurunegala were remanded until May 27. The suspects from Kandy and Bamunawala were produced before Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Buddhika Ragala yesterday.

The men were nabbed during raid conducted by HQI Kurunegala Police A Wansanatha and OIC Criminal Division S K M Priyantha.

The police also recovered 17 cellular phones, DVD players, two brand new bicycles, wrist watches, gas cylinders, jewellery and Rs 68,000 from the suspects' possession.
