Woman arrested over man's death

A woman suspect has been arrested by the Ambalangoda police Sunday in connection with the death of Peduru Wandasiri Dayananda (65) of Pasal Pedesa, Kuleegoda who had sustained critical injuries in an assault case. The suspect was due to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate. Ambalangoda police investigating the death is looking for another woman suspect wanted in this connection.

Body with severed head found

A body of a woman with a severed head was found by Mihintale police at Pothana junction Mihintale Saturday. Police investigations identified the victim as Balasuriya Leckamlage Kamal Premakanthie of Maduragoda Divulapitiya. The body is lying at the Anuradhapura Hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy. Investigations are continuing.

Passenger succumbs to injuries

A passenger who fell from the foot-board of a private bus at Wathurugama on the Galle-Colombo road on Sunday morning succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Balapitiya hospital.

He was identified as Peyahandi Madhushanak Wickramaratne 17 of Ahungalle. The alleged bus driver is in police custody. Ahungalle police is investigating.
