Navy celebrates Sambuddhatva Jayanthi

On Vesak Poya Day, Sri Lanka Navy joined in commemorative celebrations of the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi with the participation of several Bakthi Gee groups which sailed along the Diyawanna Oya on the Nawala canal and in the Beira Lake and Lunawa lagoon. These groups presented their devotional Bathi Gee along the canals and in lakes on board a decorated Naval craft which will continue throughout Vesak week.

One of these groups preformed near the Presidential Secretariat, while three groups performed in Beira Lake, four groups along Nawala canal which sailed from Waters Edge at Diyawanna Oya to Dehiwala via Battaramulla, Nawala and Wellawatta.

During the Vesak celebration, Naval personnel assisted in organizing Buddha Rashmi Pooja, National Vesak Festival at Gangaramaya Temple.
